Are you also Blacklisted by Akismet and now don’t know what to do ?

Is anyone there who got blacklisted by Akismet like me ? Hi guys, I am pretty sure if you are blogging the  you have heard of the Akismet. Yes this is the plugin which runs on almost 80℅ of the wordpress blogs.

When I started this blog , I got like 500 spam comments every day. And they were pissing me off. Since I was a newbie I didn’t put a no-follow on my outgoing links. And some of them were accepted by me.

You know some comments even brought tears to my eye “I took a full coffee mug and read your blog everyday, You are my inspiration please guide me”.

After when I came to know that they actually were spams I feel like a complete dumbass.

Then I installed the Akismet and then VOILA ! All of my problems were solved.

Akismet was doing all the thing right like protecting this blog from spammy comments but sometimes it falsely captured the original comments as well.

Which I have to despam if I checked them out.

Blacklisted By Akismet – What Happened With Me ?

Now as you know bloggers comment on other blogs for making relationship and to appreciate their work and some other bullshit. The main thing a blogger comment on other is mostly to get a backlink and some visitors as well. And in most of the cases it is better to comment on those blogs which CommentLuv Premium installed.

FYI – We also have the CommentLuv Premium :)

Like others I was also trying to do the same and some strange thing happened with me. I was commenting on other blog and for my surprise none of my comments were getting approved.

I thought that they are taking time to approve them. But none of them get approved.

I also noticed a strange thing that when I submit a comment but instead of giving me a message that your “comment is awaiting moderation” it took me back to the top of the page.

I thought that the problem is in my email id, so I started using a different id to comment. But still the same thing happens.

So I tested this on my own site and I noticed that when I write my blog url in the website column, then comment got it self into the spam queue.

But when I didn’t write my blog URL then the comment is not a spam.

Then I cam to know that this is all the doing of Akismet.

Now if it also happening with then you are also Blacklisted by Akismet.

I am explaining again that how to know if you are blacklisted by Akismet :

  1. None of your comments are getting approved.
  2. Instead of getting a message that your comment is in moderation you will be taken to the top of the page.
  3. Your blog or website URL is not working even in your own website.

Now what can we do correct this problem.

Now how Akismet determined which URL should be blacklisted :

Those url which are marked as spam by many users. That means if like 20-30 website put your comment into spam then there may be a chance that your URL will be blacklisted by Akismet.

Those URLs which are considered spam by the spam counters will also come to this category, and once you got the attention of Akismet then there is no place you can run.

Blacklisted By Akismet – Now how to clear your name from Akismet Blacklist:

There is only one way you can regain your website or blogs reputation back. It is by contacting the Akismet team. I also did the same, just go to their contact page and tell them your problem. It may look like the image below :

Akismet Contact -blacklisted by akismet

The best thing about them is they are very much supportive and will fix your problem as soon as possible.

When I have to do this, I go to their contact page and told them my problem. It says that they may take 1 week for replying. But in my case my problem was solved in just one day.

The below is my message and their reply I got :

blacklisted by Akismet

And after that I got off from their blacklisted list. If you are facing the same issue then do the same, contact Akismet. There contact team is very good and they will solve your problem in no time.

That’s all on Blacklisted by Akismet, if you like the article then kindly share it.

Why You Should and Shouldn’t use the SSL Certificate

Hello Guys, How is the new year is coming for you. Today I have a debate with myself on should I use an SSL certificate for my site or not. SSL certificate is great, I mean they put your website apart from all the other website. I mean when the green icon show at the top it looks cool. With the SSL Certificate your visitor will use the https (http secure protocol) instead of regular http.

Recently Google also declared that having an SSL will give you an advantage over your competition. But after some research I find out that there are some disadvantages that come with an SSL.

What are SSL Certificate?

SSL certificates are a small file that contains a cryptographic key. So basically that file is bonded to the server on which your site is hosted. After that any client or user that wants to wish your website will have a direct secure connection to the server.

That guarantee one thing that all the requests and acknowledgment will only pass through the user and the server. With that no other services or hacker can gain access to your crucial data.

Whenever you open a website having a SSL Certificate then a green color will be seen on your address bar with a lock (in Chrome). Like the below image.

Why and how to use SSL Certificate

And when you click on that lock it will show some additional info about the certificate.

Why and How to use SSL Certificate

Why Should You use SSL Certificate on your site?

If your website is an eCommerce site then it is mandatory for it to have an SSL Certificate. But there are certain things on applying the SSL certificate over the complete site. It is not mandatory to apply the SSL certificate on your complete site. The SSL certificate is necessary on those pages which contains the transaction or are used to put some crucial information.

For an example, – My friend, who is a graphic designer, is providing a logo design service. He has many posts and pages, but he only used SSL on the checkout page.

I have a question now if they can apply the SSL certificate to the complete site then why are they using on the checkout pages only?

For an example, if you will see at Flipkart or Snapdeal then you will find out the SSL only exist on their checkout pages. But on the other hand Amazon uses SSL on its complete site.

So securing information and doing some encrypting stuff is the only thing an SSL can do?

The answer is there is one more thing what an SSL certificate can do.

Google Search Engine Change – Https will be a factor

Recently Google announces that having an SSL certificate will give you a little more advantage in getting a good SERP. That means that SSL certificate will now contribute as a factor in the search engine algorithm of Google.

With that change, many bloggers and webmasters are applying an SSL to their complete website. So to gain an upper hand on their competition.

But there is a problem on Google algorithm as well. Google will only rank those pages which are SSL enabled. That means if you have only a checkout page with SSL that your site will not be affected.

With this change, Google encourages every webmaster and site owners to apply SSL certificate. It won’t be a matter now that you have a transaction or not. Google also told that in 2015, it will be giving more credit to the SSL. So that means the importance of SSL will grow in 2015.

That’s the thing that why you should use the SSL certificate. Now I am gonna tell you that why you should not use the SSL certificate.

Why Should You Not Use The SSL Certificate?

Having an SSL gives an SERP boost, secure your transaction and data. But there is a problem in using SSL certificate. Having an SSL certificate will make your website slower.

It becomes slower because every time, a request arrives, will be encrypted and then will be decrypted that will require some time.

Other than SSL certificate, Google uses 200 other ranking signals as well. Site Speed is one of them. So if you applied the SSL and that drop down your site speed to a greater extent then you might loose the rank instead of gaining it.

That is why many eCommerce companies are not applying it every where.

So How will you know, that you should apply the SSL or not?

For that first check your site loading speed. I am recommending two tools below check with every one of them.

  1. PageSpeed Insights – Google
  2. Pingdom Website Speed Test

If you find out that that your loading speed is quite good then you can have the SSL certificate. So if you are planning to buy then try purchasing from the below links.

  1. SSL Certificate only at $7.95 from Namecheap (Affiliate Link)
  2. SSL Certificates from SSL.com (Affiliate Link)

After purchasing please consult your web hosting provider to put these certificates on your site root and forced every page to show SSL only. It is a difficult task and your web hosting provider will be helpful (If they have a good support system).

So That’s all on SSL Certificate and on their usage.

What is your choice will you use the SSL Certificate or not, write in the comments.

17 Most Common WordPress Mistake Made By Newly Bloggers

Hello fellas, Today I am bringing you the 17 most common WordPress mistake made by newly bloggers. WordPress is seemingly the most favorite CMS(Content Management System) but still most of the people make lot of mistake while using it. Now I am not saying that everyone did it or these are all compulsion that a WordPress user must follow. But these are the things that should be avoided to make your WordPress site more better.

So I have listed some mistake made by newly WordPress bloggers.

17 Most Common WordPress Mistake Made By Newly bloggers

1. Forget to change the default permalink structure

As we know that the permalink is very important for the seo. If you don’t know what pemalink is then let me tell you.

Permalink is the static complete hyperlink to your blog posts. Since WordPress is the most awesome CMS, hence it provides 5 types of permalink structure.

The default WordPress structure should be like http://wpblog.com/?p=456. You should change it to http://wpblog.com/sample-post/

This will help you in two things. First which I mentioned above the SEO, just keep your targeted word in the URL.

Second thing will be, it will show a more appropriate URL. Cause I really don’t like the structure of the default URL . So change the default structure of permalink first and then put your focussed keyword in that and you have a SEO optimized URL.

2. Using the same Tag Line “Just another WordPress Blog”

Don’t you think that means your blog is not special. Well I hate when some one say anything about my blog and some guys are saying about their blog themselves. You should change it as soon as possible.

When you change it, try to put your logo over their instead of a headline or title. Cause a logo shows your trademark which no other can copy.

So it does two things, first it is making your blog special by not saying just another WordPress blog and secondly it is showing that you are a serious blogger who give much attention to his blog.

3. Choosing the WordPress.org or WordPress.com

I have seen many blogger who selected the WordPress.com as their host and after that they cry why I choose that. In my opinion before choosing either of them we should research.

WordPress.com is a hosting environmemt provide by Automattic. As the name suggest mostly things are done here automatically. It is best for Photgraphers, Poets, Personal Bloggers etc.

But for those who wants the complete control over their hand should choose the WordPress.org.

As we already knew that custom made themes which is premium themes and premium plugins do not work with WordPress.org. So before investing the money choose carefully.

4. Keeping the default favicon

Favicon is the small icon present seen in your browser window. Mostly theme come with default favicon icons and most of the bloggers forgot to change them.

It doesn’t matter if you are a graphic designer or not. Just took any picture or may be the first word of your site title, convert into a 16 * 16 or 32 * 32 picture and replace it with the default image.

Mostly themes come with an option to change the favicon but if your theme doesn’t have that than there are few plugins available in the WordPress plugins store which can sort out your problem.

5. Don’t use admin as the username

As we know the most common username is admin. That’s because when installing the WordPress we forgot about this thing.

WordPress is awesome and good but it it not completely secure. So making your username as admin that means you are inviting hackers to hack your WordPress blog. It is very important because username in the WordPress can’t be edited after.

Since most of the hosting provider gives us the facility of one click install. In that installation we mostly forget about username and in many cases they don’t ask for it.

But the good hosting providers such as dreamhost and Bluehost ask for it.

When I first started blogging, I purchased my hosting from Bigrock. They also have a one click installation feature but the username they choose for the WordPress is a mixture of the domain name and some numbers. So these types of things will make your blog more secure.

6. Making lots of Categories and tags

Making effective categories will surely benefit your viewers very much. And tags will surely tell them that that what is the highlight of the post.

But I have seen many bloggers which have created a lots of categories having just a single post. Making a lots of categories and lots of tags may result in the opposite direction.

Users may see that too complex and then can leave your site quickly. There is a chance that negative SEO can come to you due to this.

So instead of making many categories and tags just MAKE IT SIMPLE.

7. Choosing the theme for your WordPress Blog

One of the best thing about WordPress is, its large database of themes some of which are free and some of are premium.

Free themes are just free nothing special about them. But instead of using free we should try premium themes. They come with their own style and have a good support as well.

But before choosing them we should think of what are our requirements. For example I am only gonna publish about my app so a one page theme would be enough for me. But my friend needs a theme which is capable of showing lots of blog posts at once so he will need a Magazine theme.

If you ask me then I would recommend Genesis Framework with any child theme since it is the highest used theme or Elegant Themes since they provide you lots of great themes and plugins which can be used to fulfill any requirement.

8. Not giving attention to the SEO

SEO is an important thing, I guess we all agree on this one. But what we have to do in WordPress to get our SEO at the fullest. I think the first thing to do for that is to install a good SEO plugin.

Since there are lots of free and premium plugins are available but I would suggest using the free ones as there are no big difference between the free and the premium one.

Also Read – Top 5 Free WordPress SEO plugins.

These plugins can help us in the on page optimization. Other than that they are also used for creating site map, getting authentication from Webmaster tools etc. They can also be used to get the good optimization of the home page.

9. Not using any type of Cache Plugin

Site Speed is an important factor, for the readers and for the SEO as well. Now I am not gonna tell you what happened if your site speed is low or your site is heavy. I am just gonna tell you that it is important that you use some sort of cache plugin with WordPress.

As there are lots of plugin available so I suggest you may choose W3 Total Cache or Wp Super Cache. Both are superb plugin and can boost your site speed by keeping your static files saved as a cache memory.

Well certainly there are many more methods to increase speed of the WordPress site and I have written a post on that on Comluv. You can take look at that.

With the Cache Plugin you can also use some CDN (Content Delivery Network) Service. CDN service is provided free by the CloudFlare you can try that, or if you want to go premium then you can choose MaxCDN or CDNIFY. It will boost the site speed and also provide you protection as well.

Also Read – CDNIFY Review.

10. Where is the Contact Form

Having a contact form is really better than using an email id to contact. If you are using your email id in the contact page to contact you then you must stop that. Since you are exposing your mail to lots of spammers, haters and to some other guys.

Instead of that use Form for contact. To make a contact form, you can use Contact Form 7 which may be the best free plugin to create Contact form. But I may suggest you to use FormGet, its an online form builder service using that you can create beautiful form by just drag and drop.

You can look at our contact form which is made from their service. Although we have their premium service but you can also sign up for their free service which will let you receive 200 messages per month. Which I think is more than enough.

If you want something else then you can also go with Gravity Forms which is a premium plugin and can create beautiful forms by drag and drop.

11. Forgot to take schedule backups

What happens if all of your post and media just disappear. I don’t know about you but I will break my computer if that happened or I will stop blogging. So that’s why it is important to take backups.

WordPress is completely awesome and its very easy to use but nothing in this world is perfect. Even WordPress crashes some time and what if in that crash all of your content got lost. Even the WordPress also suggest before doing the Update that you should take a back up first.

Here is another thing why back up are necessary. What if your site got hacked by someone and he delete all of your data. Then even if your site got recovered, still there is no way you could bring the data back if you don’t have a back up.

For taking back up you can use BackWpUp or UpdraftPlus both are really good plugin and will take your back up automatically.

Also take a look at Achni Jain’s post on Taking backup with Updraftplus at TechnoKarak

12. Forget to update the WordPress and plugins

This is kind of a problem with me also. In the starting I never gave any attention to the WordPress update. But then once a plugin started giving me trouble and when I contact their support they tell me that I have to update the plugin.

Then I came to know why the update is important. Updates should be done so that the previous bug that was present in the plugin/theme should be removed. With that it is also done so that new functionality of the theme/plugins or its new features get available to us.

Other than Themes and plugins there is also an update for WordPress CMS. We should also update them regularly since they provide new updates, bring you new features and provide you new security updates.

With keeping all that in mind I think that keeping update is really necessary, and this is one of the most common mistake a WordPress user make.

13. How do I check my stats – Google Analytics

This is very common mistake done by many WordPress user. I know that our WordPress dashboard combined with Jetpack is really powerful but we still need something more.

That’s why it is necessary to integrate Google Analytics on our WordPress blog. Google Analytics is a really powerful tool provided by Google and it is free as well.

Also Read – How to install Google Analytics on WordPress

It will give you the most powerful insight about your website. It can tell you from where the traffic is coming or who is currently online or what are the monthly page views etc. These are the stats that WordPress can’t tel.

So every WordPress user should integrate Google Analytics as soon as possible.

14. Not having any protection from spam comments

Thanks to WordPress we can comment on each other blog. But there are times when people only comment to make backlinks. And there are many tools that make such type of comments. So basically they are just spams.

That doesn’t make any sense that we read each one of them and put them into spam category. Instead of that we should use Akismet or GASP. Both are free and awesome plugins which can automatically put spam comments into spam category.

Right now I am receiving more 200 spam comments every day and thanks to Akismet and GASP they all are going into the spam category. But there is a problem with Akismet, for that you can read my post on Akismet from below.

Also Read : Akismet blacklisted me, what to do now ?

So both of them are good and you can use both of them together as well.

15. Forgetting about mobile display

Now the internet is not limited to desktop computers. Many users daily surf the internet with smart phones. So if your WordPress site is not ready to display properly, than that would be a common mistake.

After adaptive and fluid layout, this is the time to use responsive themes. If you have bought Genesis or Elegant Themes then this would not be your problem since all of their themes are responsive.

But if you are using a different theme then that can be a problem. But don’t worry there is an easy solution to that. You can use WpTouch which is a free plugin and can make your site to look good on mobile devices.

This can solve your problem easily so if you are using a non responsive theme then try this, its worth giving a shot, and if you wanna go further in optimizing your mobile display then you can also use WpTouch Pro Plugin as well.

16. Who Wrote the post – Gravatar

Global Avatar or as we can say it Gravatar is must have thing for a blogger. Gravatar is like a profile for you but that can be used on almost every platform. That means by using this you can put your picture on the post or on the comments you will make.

Not only it will be visible to your WordPress site, but since Gravatar is accepted by many platforms so it would be useful to there as well.

Most people either don’t know about this or always forget to set that up and that’s actually happened with me as well. So speaking from personal experience setup a Gravatar right now if you don’t have.

17. Should I optimize image, may be no who care !!

Image optimization still a big thing and always will be for a WordPress site. As we know that Site speed is a big factor in SEO. So we should always use some trick that increase our website speed.

Also Read – Top 6 tricks to make your WordPress site Faster.

So consider that our site is a train and its carrying lots of things. Then to increase our speed we can do two things. First one is to change the engine to a very fast one which is in practical manner comes to changing our hosting.

And second one will be throw the things that are carried by the train. Since on website we can’t throw anything but we can reduce their size. So for this whole thing Image Optimization is really important.

In the back days, a user have to optimize the image and then upload it. But now we have tools, and they can done this work easily. So to optimize your images you can use Wp Smush.it which is a free plugin.

That’s all on 17 Most Common WordPress mistake made by newly bloggers.

How to use GitHub / GitHub Tutorial the easy way

Hello Everyone, here I am again with How to use GitHub. I am guessing if you are a developer or going to be developer then you must have heard about it.

I am a developer as well and recently my friend told me about this. Well first I thought why would I need such type of thing but when I started using this and after that I recommend it to everyone else.

Now to tell you what is Git and how to use the GitHub, first I need to tell you about the VCS.

VCS is an acronym used for Version Control System. You know when professional developers, made something they provide it a version. It basically an indicator which tells the user that how many times this product was updated, what is the change in it from previous versions and some other things.

So why am I telling you all this ?

I am telling you all this because before learning “How to use GitHub“, you should know that “What is GitHub“.

You know when we start developing at the beginner level we never care about work. I mean if I created an app and I want some changes in it then instead of making a different copy, I will edit the original one.

But what if I have done a mistake after editing them. And that mistake is undetectable. Then my whole work will be lost and I have to start from the scratch again. And this type of thing has recently happened with me. As I was working on an Android Project and due to some bug in the Eclipse I lost all of my work which I have done from the past 3 months. So I don’t want that you guys also have the same fate as I do.

To avoid this we use VCS or Version Control System through which we can save our whole work in different pacakges. That means in the above example if I was using the VCS then my problem will be solved easily.

So those programmers like me who don’t use the VCS  and some other things are known as “Cowboy Coders“. Not because, they look like them or wear a hat. Its because they do not follow the rules of Software Engineering. And they really have a certain disadvantage while doing so.

So coming to the point Git is a Version Control System which helps you to save your work when you do a change in them and solve some of your problem. The place where we store are work in Git is know as “Repository“.

Well the help of Git the major three problems will be solved. These are also its features as well.  So I have written below some example that might be the problems for developers.

Why Use a VCS (Version Control System)

1. VCS : Version Control is must for a developer. Let assume that you are a developer and a client gave you a work to develop a web application. You created the app and mailed him.

Now he doesn’t like that app and gave you some changes to do. You do that and mailed again to the client. But now he wants some more changes, and you do that as well and mailed him.

But some how he changes his mind and now he wants the original web app you developed. Now what ?

This is a problem that can easily be solve by a VCS. With that you can easily provide him the first version since it was saved as a seperate project.

2. Branching : Now keeping the previous example alive. This time that client likes the final app but he tolds you that he want to see what happenes if the these changes were made on the second version.

This is another feature of VCS with that you can use it branching feature. Which means that all of your work can be edited and will be saved in the repository as a branch. And you can able to make more branches as well.

3. Merging : What happens if the same client hires 5 more developers other than  you and give them separate task and he wants the whole project to be assembled into one. You may contact each other but merging all of their work would be one heck of a deal and what if there are 50 or 500 persons doing the work. So in that case VCS will come to our help. Since all the data can be accessible by anyone and stored on a remote server then all the developers could develop at the same time.

Well these are the main features of Git. Now I told you that this post is about GitHub so lets start with that now.

Oh! But there is a thing I forgot to tell you.  Git and GitHub is completely different. Git  is a VCS that is created by Linus Torvalds and I am thinking you must have heard this name. If you don’t then he is the creator of LINUX. I mean he is a ROCKSTAR among the engineers.

So GIT is completely different from GitHub, if you want to learn Git then click below the Treehouse banner and take your first month free. They have an ultimate course of using Git and here I am providing you GitHub Tutorials.

What is GitHub ?

GitHub is hosting service for repository in which you can save a repository and share it as well. It is also known as the social networking site for developers. Means Git is a Version Control System which save our data on repositories and GitHub is the place where these repository can be stored.

Now a days most of the company are wanting that applicant must have a working project on GitHub. Through that company can verify its works and project and then it would be easy to hire him.

GitHub has a very clear structure and you don’t even need an account if you want to see or download some repository. But if you wanna make your repository then you need an account.

Repository are of two types in  GitHub :

1. Public : Public repository are those which can be accessed by anyone on the internet and they are completely free and you can make as many public repository as you want.

2. Private : Private repository are those which can only be accessed by you. Isn’t that an advantage but it comes as a price. GitHub also offers paid account and only those with private can create the private repository. I have pasted below their pricing table.

GitHub Tutorials - GitHub Pricing

Now to start with GitHub you should make an account first. So go to GitHub and create an account its easy and free.

Then the next step would be is to download Github Application. So download the GitHub for Windows or GitHub for Mac from here.

Now after you install them, you will see two icons on your desktop and they are :

1. Git Shell : - Which is a shell application or you can say it is the Git it self. This is a command prompt shell that means there is no GUI (Graphical User Interface). So when you are starting using Git then I would suggest you to ignore this and use the GUI application instead.

2. GitHub : - GitHub is the app we are gonna use to make our repository and save the data in it. Basically it is the GUI platform that can be used to access the GitHub and has the functionality of the Git.

Lets start the steps to use the GitHub as our VCS :

How to use GitHub App for Windows/Mac

1. First when you start the app you should see a blank scree saying that there is no repository to show you. Now you need to sign  in this app using your GitHub Account. So for that click on the setting button situated in the upper right corner of that app.

GitHub Tutorial for Beginners

2. In the option menu you will see a message that there is no account is associated with this app. So to add a GitHub account click on the “Add Account” button.

GitHub Tutorial for Beginners

3. Now add your user name of the GitHub or the email associated with GitHub with its password and click “Log in“.

GitHub Tutorial for Beginners

4. Since log in is done then lets create a repository. Click on the upper left PLUS icon to add one. Provide a local path to it and a name and then click “Create repository“.GitHub Tutorial for Beginners

5. After that a repository will be created and two files will be added into it. Don’t worry these are the files added by app itself it won’t harm your project.

GitHub Tutorial for Beginners

6. But this repository we just created is still in our local storage. So to make this repository available on GitHub Server or on their site we have to publish it . Now name this repository anything you want, but it would be best to use the same name as on our local storage. As you can see below you will see a check button for “Private Repository“. As I explained you above the difference between the private and public repository so I don’t think I need to do that again.

I have their Micro plan which is costing me 7$/Month so I can make 5 private repository. So I don’t whether this check box came in the free plan or not.

how to use GitHub

So that’s it we create a repository and whatever changes you will do now will be tracked and saved to your repository. To show you how the changes is saved, I am using one of my previous project. As you can see below this is my project and in the upper right a tab is saying that Uncommitted Changes. By this they means those files in which some changes have been occurred but they are not saved to the GitHub Server.

how to use GitHub

7. As you can see below it is only showing three files in which I have made some changes. That means instead of uploading all the project it will only upload these three files only. You have to specify the summary and description as well to commit these files.

how to use GitHub

8. There is a button with an arrow in the upper left corner which says “master“, and I think if you noticed that you must be thinking what is that. Well this is stating that this is the master branch of the project. That means we are working on the original path we have started. But what if we need a branch from a specific steps. In that case just click this and add a branch and name it something you want.

how to use GitHub

That is all on GitHub App steps to create repository

What more can GitHub do for you ?

The features of GitHub isn’t over yet there is still more :

1.PULL :- This is a feature of GitHub using which you can obtain any private repository in your local computer. They can be self made project by others or by your team. You can use their project or make an enhancement in  them and show them to another persons.

2. SOCIAL : – I think I told you that above that GitHub is said to be the Social Networks of Developers so I think you should have seen this coming. Just like other social networks here you can interact with other developers, follow them or favorite their project.

There is also a cool feature in the GitHub which is “Watch” feature. With this you can add any public repository to watch and then whenever the user made a change in that, it will be shown into your dashboard.

3. FORK : – Fork is a feature of GitHub that allow us to copy a repository and add our own functionality in it. To understand this you can try this example :

Go to Octocat Spoon Knife Project and in the upper right corner there will be a button named as “FORK“. Click on it, after that in the side bar you should see a button “Clone in Desktop“.

how to use GitHub

After that you will see that it a box will appear which is asking for permission to launch an app. Just click on launch and you will see the GitHub will be opened and it will be asking for a path to save the file. After you specify the path, the repository will be downloaded and will be available in the GitHub application.

how to use GitHub

So that’s all on how to use GitHub.

If you got any doubt on “How to use GitHub” kindly ping me in the comments and I will try to sort them out.

And if it is not much to ask, then give this a share as well :) .

Bhopal – A Prayer For Rain (The Ultimate Story of Happiness and Pain)

Hi Guys, I guess you all heard about the Bhopal Gas accident which is the world’s worst industrial disaster till now. All of us know a little about it that a poisonous gas was leaked out of the factory and kill thousands of people living in the area. But none of us truly know that why the factory was situated at the heart of Bhopal, why no one try to shut it down if it was dangerous and why no one protested to shut down this company.

Keeping all that in mind Director Ravi Kumar has brought us their complete story in scenes of “Bhopal – A Prayer For Rain“. Its title “A Prayer For Rain” do look like a misnomer but its not and I learnt that when I watch the movie. I must say the tragedy was brutal but this movie is telling their complete story that why it was brutal and how it can be ignored but it still happened.

Thanks to the folks at IndiBlogger and Bhopal Movie I got to watch the movie two days prior to its release. And here I am writing my views on what I saw and how it feel.

Bhopal – A Prayer For Rain Review

[soliloquy id=”3537″]

Plot of Bhopal A Prayer For Rain :

Around ten years ago from starting time line of the movie a corporation named as “Union Carbide” put its steps on Bhopal. May be there was nothing at that time, but now (starting of the movie) there are thousands of people living around that factory. The Union Carbide basically produces pesticide for farmers and also provides jobs to the local people. When poor but hard working persons put see the profit in the Corporation, they joined it. But they didn’t know that they are making an axe with which they are going to cut their own head.

Bhopal A Prayer For Rain – Characters :

Bhopal A Prayer For RainThe complete story revolve around Dilip played by Rajpal Yadav who is one of the main character in the movie and is a hard working Rickshaw Driver. He is very poor and doesn’t have enough money to feed his family. By a chance he got the work at “Union Carbide” and got the good salary through which he can feed his family and can arrange marry for her sister. But still the constant fear of death and other things frightened him but he still thinks about his family and do the things.

Rajpal Yadav has played this character very beautifully. I must say he just showed how good he is as an actor. Instead of doing any comedy he is now doing a serious role and playing it so beautifully, even that’s the things that will made you watch the movie.

So my question, will Dilip’s Sister will get married and will Dilip survived the Gas leak for that you have to watch the movie by your self :) .

Tannishtha Chatterjee who is playing the character of  Dilip (Rajpal Yadav) wife in the movie. I already knew that she is an awesome actress by seeing her acting in Gulab Gang where she was a village girl. This time the plot was almost the same, she has to act as a typical village girl who wants the happiness of her family and promotion of her husband. She supports Dilip every time and in his every decision and even Dilip can’t say no to her in any case.

Kal Penn, I really love his acting from the Kumar and Harold Series and How I met Your Mother Season 7. Here as well he gives a great outcome while doing a totally different role. Although first it seems a little awkward watching Kal Penn talking in Hindi with an Indian accent. He is playing the role of “Motwani” a local journalist who is trying to shut down the Union Carbide and help the people to understand the harms it can. Riding his scooter and collecting all the news he can publish was awesome. I mean he is working hard to get a single news from any source but still people didn’t believed but he never lose hope.

Mischa Barton played the character of “Eva Gascon” which was also a journalist. She came for a brief moment in the movie for some interview but her arrival will bring a new hope for Motwani and also encouraged him to still go against the Union Carbide.

Martin Sheen plays the character of Warren Anderson who was the chairman of Union Carbide. If you don’t know him than you didn’t watch enough good movies till now. He is a Multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Award Winner and he is also the father of “Charlie Sheen“. He is a marvelous actor and got a killer style. I mean he totally fit into the character.

Warren Anderson was the chairman and he wants only one thing with the Union Carbide which is Profit. Which it wasn’t giving him, so some steps were taken to reduce the cost of the maintenance and that give us the ultimate penalty. Although may be he didn’t want this but it still happened under his nose.

The movie completely states what was the factor which lead to this horrific event and what were the measured by which it can be prevented, but it wasn’t. Mastery over the character and the environment making this movie so great.  So according to me this movie is really worth to watch.

5 “Unusual” Android Apps

Google has brought a new culture to the Android world. It is not about great looking sleek interfaces, it is about creating apps that are functional and brilliant. I have been in the software business for more than half a decade now and I have seen it rise in front of my very eyes. I have seen Apple becoming the trendsetter then Android snatching its throne, then Windows 8 and later versions putting Apple and Android against the wall. In this competitive and for the user, brilliant world of mobile apps, what I have seen is a remarkable feat of developers in creating apps that are unique and addictive.

Android being an open source is the most “frequently-used” app developing platform. And it is only logical that Android has come the farthest in creating apps that bewilder you at times. I being an app developer can now work on various ideas that I wouldn’t have dreamed about a year and a half ago. So if an unknown and small-skilled developer like me is thinking big with Android platform, you can imagine what “real” (ouch for me) have been up to.

Here are five of the most unusual and mind blowing apps you will find on Android platform:

AirDroid

Airdroid

AirDroid is an app that allows an Android user to control its device from another device using Wifi connection or a linked-browser or LAN. It is kind of freaky right? Not quite. All one has to do is to install and start the app on the Android device and open the link web.airdroid.com in a browser using any other device. There will be a code displayed on your Android device which you have to put in the browser to ensure connectivity and security. Once you are connected there you can see a page within your browser that will allow you to perform several actions such as copying images, inserting texts, transferring files, sending videos and what not. With such creative yet simple Android app, who needs the annoying data cable?

[themify_button style=”large gray rounded” link=”https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid&hl=en” ]Download[/themify_button]

Shush

Shush

One of the most practical apps I have ever seen and yet it is insanely simple. It does only one thing but one thing is crucial. It allows you to set a timer on your phone when making it silent. In other words you can simply set your phone to remain silent for a given period of time and then switch the volume back up.

[themify_button link=”https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.publicobject.shush&hl=en” ]Download[/themify_button]

Unified Remote

Unified Remote

Unified Remote makes your mobile phone or tablet an input device to your computer. You use it for various functions such as volume control and NFC. It also has an option of working as a voice activation device. It also starts acting as a remote for multiple programs. The pro version of the app offers great deal of customization.

[themify_button link=”https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Relmtech.Remote&hl=en” ]Download[/themify_button]

Puzzle Alarm Clock

Puzzle Alarm

Here is one for the slackers and sleepers (like myself), if you have trouble getting up and you find yourself often turning off or snoozing the alarm and waking up after hours, then Puzzle Alarm Clock is perfect for you. To turn alarm off you will have to either enter NFC codes, captcha codes, small puzzles, and math equations – anything to make sure that you are “awake enough”.

[themify_button link=”https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wroclawstudio.puzzlealarmclock&hl=en” ]Download[/themify_button]

ReadItToMe

ReadItToMe is a simple app that makes your phone like very high-tech and James Bond-y. It reads out the texts you receive, the name of the contact that calls you, general notifications and all such. You can set it to notify you by voice every time or only when you have earphones plugged or have connected your Bluetooth headset.

We also want to give a final shoutout for Solo Launcher, you can  read a review of it here. Solo Launcher keeps similar apps grouped. It also brings commonly used apps to the forefront so you can use your favorite apps without much hassle. It’s ideal for use in conjunction with the Apps we listed above.

Torrentlocker Ransomware and How to remove it

Hey guys, whats up today we are talking about another malware that is recently found named as Torrentlocker.

If you can recall, some times ago there came a virus named as Cryptolocker. If you forget about that then read again about Cryptolocker the most threatening trojan.

Now the Cryptolocker is officially dead and buried under the ground. How can I say so ? Its because there is now a method here by which we can decrypt our encrypted files without paying the ransom.

If you are affected by Cryptolocker then go to Decryptolocker and follow the steps to recover your files.

Now Torrentlocker can be the son of cryptolocker and may be The SuperMan as well ( Cause its the son of crypton and powerful as well ). Which shows the features of both Cryptolocker and Cryptowall. By looking at it, it looks like almost the same as Cryptolocker but Torrentlocker is indeed different.

Torrentlocker Ransomware and How to remove it

(Image Source – Remove – Pcvirus)

The iSightPartners which is a security researcher found out this malware and analyse it.

[themify_quote]Additional info :

Read the report of Torrentlocker by iSightPartners.

[/themify_quote]

Torrentlocker – What it can do ?

When Torrentlocker hit a system, it runs in background and encrypt the files of the computer without the knowing of the user. Then after that it will demand a ransom for the decryption of the encrypted files.

The other thing about this Torrentlocker is that, when it runs it show it self as the Cryptolocker and cryptowall while its a totally different species. Now if you are thinking that if it shows the name of the Cryptolocker then why it is named as Torrentlocker ?

The answer to that question is that, it make a modification in the Windows Registry under ‘HKCU\Software\Bit Torrent Application\’. So that’s why it is named as Torrentlocker. But it is not proven that it comes from file sharing protocols or from torrent (Thank GOD we are saved :) ). Most probably it came from the spammy emails which has some attachments.

Now the attachments you will get, will be more likely as the Cryptolocker. Means the attachment will have a double extension. That means you will think of the attachments as .pdf but it will be .exe.pdf . As soon as the .pdf opens the .exe will be deployed in the background and your computers will be hit by the Torrentlocker.

So in short, Torrentlocker have the power of both Cryptolocker and Cryptowall.

Just like cryptolcker its encrypts the file of your system and demands a ransom to give you back your file. And like cryptowall it will show you a FAQ section in which you can see some basic question answers as well.

Torrentlocker Ransomware and How to remove it

But here is one more evil thing about Torrentlocker, which is that the amount of ransom is now increased. Torrentlocker demands 500 USD/EUR and gives you a time to which the transfer should be made. But if you fail to transfer the money in that time then you will have to pay 1000 USD/EUR to decrypt the file.

Now this money has to be send using Bitcoin so that the programmers who created this will not be tracked. As bitcoin is used for anonymity.

Torrentlocker – How it is different ?

Torrentlocker is completely different on code level and more to that there have been some changes. So it can be said as a derivative of the Cryptolocker but it still very much different. Its like a lion is born from a leopard or something like that.

After the Torrentlocker is executed, the first thing it will do is make a modification in explorer.exe by which it will do most of its work. After that it will make its multiple copies in the windows directory. Now the thing it would do is save it self by different or a random name so that an Anti – Virus would not identify it as a threat. And in the background it will also instantiate its multiple installation as well.

Now unlike Cryptolocker, Torrentlocker gives you an option to decrypt a single file from your disk. This is to prove that when you pay the ransom all of your files will be decrypted. And as I told you above you have to pay the ransom in the given time or the amount for the ransom will be doubled after the given time is over.

There is one more thing about Torrentlocker, which is it also have the option to pay the ransom money through Dogecoin and Litecoin.

Torrentlocker – How to remove it ?

There are no option other than paying the ransom. But I won’t suggest that, as we saw in the Cryptolocker case soon its removal will arrive shortly.

But there are certain things you can do to prevent losing of data :

  • As soon as you realize that you are hit, turn off the computer. If it says that your files won’t be decrypted if you do that, then don’t believe it and turn off your computer.
  • Install a fresh copy of windows or use Linux as it is more secure.
  • Then install a good antivirus and do a complete system scan.
  • Always keep a external hard disk in which you can keep your backup.
  • If hard disk is not an option then use a usb of good size and keep your important data in it.

That’s all on Torrentlocker, if you are hit or know anything else then please comment below.
